Located about 40 km west of Hanoi, Dong Mo Lake is the largest freshwater reservoir in the Hanoi area, surrounded by rolling hills and peaceful countryside. The lake covers more than 1,300 hectares, offering a vast and quiet fishing environment with hundreds of small islands and natural fishing spots.
Dong Mo is known among local anglers for its rich fish population and diverse species, making it an ideal destination for both bottom rig fishing and lure fishing. The calm waters, fresh air, and beautiful scenery create the perfect escape from the busy city while enjoying a full day of fishing.
Fishing at Dong Mo Lake is possible all year round, but some seasons offer better chances depending on the target species.
This is a great season for carp fishing, as fish become more active after winter. The weather is mild and comfortable for a full day of fishing.
Summer is excellent for lure fishing, especially for snakehead and other predatory fish that are very active in warm water.
One of the best seasons overall for fishing. The water temperature is ideal, and many species feed actively before winter.
Fishing is still possible, especially for carp and catfish, although fish may be less active during colder days.
🌿 Tip from local anglers:
Early morning and late afternoon are usually the most productive fishing times at Dong Mo Lake.
05:00 – Pick-up at your hotel in central Hanoi. Depart by private car or van.
06:30 – Arrive at Dong Mo Lake. Meet your fishing guide and board the local fishing boat.
06:30 – 12:00 – Start fishing! Your guide will take you to the best fishing spots around the lake for either bottom rig fishing or lure fishing.
12:00 – 13:00 – Break for a peaceful lunch by the lake. Enjoy a prepared lunch box with local dishes while relaxing in nature.
13:00 – 17:00 – Continue fishing in the afternoon, exploring new fishing spots and enjoying the calm scenery around the lake.
17:00 – Wrap up the day, pack your gear, and return to the dock.
18:00 – Arrive back at your hotel in central Hanoi.

Our fishing tours utilize a rubber dinghy, a lightweight and highly versatile inflatable boat designed specifically for accessing hard-to-reach fishing areas. Depending on water conditions and the fishing location, the boat can be propelled by paddles for silent navigation or equipped with an outboard motor for faster travel between spots.
One of the greatest advantages of the rubber dinghy is its ability to enter narrow creeks, shallow channels, and shoreline structures that larger boats simply cannot access. This allows anglers to reach untouched fishing grounds where predatory fish often hide among mangrove roots, fallen timber, and submerged vegetation.

Yes, absolutely — you can book a fishing tour as a solo traveler. You will receive our full, dedicated service throughout your trip. Please note that the rate for a solo angler is naturally higher compared to group bookings.
It’s very simple.
Once your tour booking is confirmed via email or WhatsApp, we will send you a secure online payment link. You can pay using a Credit Card via PayPal or VTC Pay.
(Transaction fees range from 1.5% to 2.5%, depending on the card type.)
In most cases, we do not accept payment on the day of the tour. This policy is due to the high risk of last-minute cancellations, sometimes within 24 hours of departure. Since we have commitments to guides, fishing sites, boat operators, and drivers, we must cover these costs in advance from our own funds.
However, if you feel uncomfortable paying in advance, please contact us via WhatsApp. You will need to provide confirmation that you will participate 100% in the tour.

Yes. Most of our shore-based fishing tours include small shelters or rest huts where anglers can stay protected from the sun and rain
Only a few tours in Da Nang, Hoi An, and Nha Trang are operated directly by local residents.
In these cases, we simply connect travelers with trusted local hosts who run the tour themselves. We do not charge any service or organizational fees for these tours. Our role is purely to support local communities and help them earn additional income.
